Terminals will automatically acquire suitable network configuration and no action is generally needed. However, in some specialised environments it can be necessary to report on, review, or manually configure a terminal's network settings.
Reporting on terminals
Basic network information of terminals linked to a customer environment can usually be reported by an admin by visiting Employees > Administration > Terminals.
Information that can be viewed here is:
- Nepton terminal Id
- IPv4 and IPv6
- Computer name
- Last polled (Last time network connectivity was confirmed between the terminal and the Nepton platform)
Please note that in some special cases, terminal network configurations cannot be retrieved remotely.
Advanced details & editing network settings
To view or edit advanced terminal network settings, it is necessary to physically visit the device in question.
An administrator will need to shut down the Nepton terminal software, before using the operating system to check network adaptor properties. The following information can be obtained in this manner;
- MAC / Physical address
- IPv4 and IPv6 address
- DHCP server
- Default gateway
- Subnet mask
- DNS Servers
Click the network icon on the bottom right corner. Click Details to view network properties.
