The year 2024 brought numerous improvements and new features to Nepton. In this article, we highlight the most important ones.
Over the past year, we’ve focused particularly on serving the industrial sector, developing our services to better support the processes of larger organisations.
In addition, we’ve integrated payroll into our service offering. This enhancement allows us to provide a more comprehensive solution for small and medium-sized businesses. Our service now includes worktime tracking, shift planning, payroll, HR tools, the Priima learning platform, and Saarni EXP employee surveys.
Read on to see how we’ve made everyday work easier for our customers over the past year.
For Industrial and Large Customers
New Software for Flexim Worktime Terminals
In April 2024, Saarni Nepton acquired the Flexim Pro/Compact business from Abloy. Existing Flexim worktime terminals can now be updated for compatibility with Nepton. This enables customers to save on investment costs and reduces the workload involved in onboarding projects. Extending the lifespan of older terminals also helps to reduce their carbon footprint.
Flexible Access Rights with Permission Sets
The platform now allows for the creation of permission sets, making it possible to define user rights based on tasks or organisational structure. Rights related to HR and worktime data can be allocated within these groups. This update has improved data protection and made managing permissions significantly easier, especially in larger organisations.
Improved Shift Planning
Shift calendar performance has been enhanced and now supports larger numbers of employees. Several minor technical issues have also been resolved to improve the overall shift planning experience.
For Small and Medium-Sized Businesses
Nepton Payroll – Everything in One System
One of the year’s most significant updates is the introduction of Nepton Payroll, which combines worktime tracking, payroll, and HR data into a single system. With working hours automatically interpreted into payroll data, the payroll process becomes much simpler. Employees can view their payslips in real time, reducing errors and the need for post-payment corrections. Payroll administrators have access to all necessary information in one place, improving efficiency. They can also see all changes made to past payroll periods and handle corrections with ease.
A Better User Experience for Everyone
Clearer and More User-Friendly Worktime Management
We’ve updated the design of various worktime views, offering a better overall user experience. Starting, ending, and resuming activities is now more seamless with mobile-style quick start events. Each worktime entry clearly shows whether it was made on a terminal, in real time via mobile, or through the calendar view.
Feedback Surveys to Improve User Experience
We’re committed to ensuring a smooth user experience. Your feedback provides us with valuable insights for further service development. We collect feedback from all Nepton users twice a year. The survey appears in the browser and mobile views after the first log-in of the workday. It can be easily dismissed and won’t reappear once closed.
Improvements to Employment Management
We’ve streamlined HR management. The employment section’s menu structure has been simplified. In the Skills view, it's now easier to remove a skill from multiple employees at once. The personal ID field now supports both the new Finnish social security number format and foreign identification numbers. Multiple RFID tags can also be assigned to a employee.
New Worktime Management Settings
Nepton now supports a wider variety of collective agreements and local working arrangements. Management of pay increases has improved, and thresholds can now be defined more flexibly. Work time balancing periods can be set to recur automatically, simplifying maintenance. Start and end-of-shift compensation can also accrue even when there’s a shortfall at the beginning or end of a shift. Customers can create custom accruals for different purposes, and exceeding minimum or maximum accrual limits can be allowed. Performance of Nepton Touch terminals has been improved, and a new help menu has been added to assist with rebooting and troubleshooting.
Technology and Security
More Advanced Integrations
Nepton’s integrations with other systems have improved significantly. Different types of data integrations can now run simultaneously, accelerating data transfer. A new real-time absence integration sends only new or changed absences to the Mepco HRM system, significantly reducing manual work in payroll. The Netvisor and Visma L7 integrations now support broader data transfers, streamlining financial management processes.
Enhanced Performance and Faster Service
Several performance improvements have been implemented across the platform, enhancing speed and efficiency in various areas such as search fields, scheduled tasks, databases, and shift planning. We’ve also upgraded our server infrastructure, resulting in faster service overall.
Ongoing Commitment to Data Security
Data security is a top priority and central to everything we do. We continuously develop our security practices in line with key standards and regulations. We work closely with our customers and partners to build an ever-more secure service. Regular internal security audits are conducted, and we also participate in audits carried out by customers and partners to ensure our security remains up to date.
