You can define public holiday settings for each public holiday separately. In the settings can be defined does public holiday have calculatory effects to the worktime balance or compensations, and if public holiday is wanted to be shown in calendar or not.
If wanted to add other public holidays, than what is provided in Nepton as default, contact customer service and it can be done as work order.
Defining settings
Settings can be defined in Worktime part either in Setting group or Working community settings.
In Setting groups settings you can find public holiday setting from Worktime -> Administration -> Setting groups -> Setting group: Wanted setting group -> Action: Setting group settings -> Work hours -> Public holidays.
In Working community settings you can find public holiday settings from Worktime -> Administration -> Working community settings -> Work hours -> Public holidays.
You can define how work is wanted to be treated as a default on public holidays from setting 'Treat working on public holidays that shorten the week as' (Normal day, Additional work, Daily / weekly overtime, Daily overtime).
Normal day = All work recorded to the public holiday is handled as it would be normal working day.
Additional work = All work recorded to the public holiday is handled as additional work, however depending on defined additional work settings.
Daily- / weekly overtime = All work recorded to the public holiday is first weekly overtime, and then daily overtime, once TES maximum work day length has been crossed.
Daily overtime = All work recorded to the public holiday is directly daily overtime.
It is important to notice which overtime target is used when calculating work on public holiday. Such as if work which is targeted as "Hour to hour - Balance", overtime is not automatically interpreted by increment percentage.
If work recorded on public holiday is wanted to be compensated hour by hour, 'Treat working on public holidays that shorten the week as' should be set as "Daily / weekly overtime" or "Daily overtime", depending on how recorded work on public holiday should be compensated if work is targeted as overtime to salary.
You can define, whether public holiday should shorten work week length by daily obligation, weekly obligation or maximum weekly obligation.
- With weekly obligation one public holiday shortens work week and maximum hours of work per week by fifth of the work week length. Example: work week length is 30 hours and maximum hours of work per week 40 hours. One public holiday shortens both by 6 hours.
- With max weekly obligation one public holiday shortens work week by fifth of its length and maximum hours of work per week by fifth of its length. Example: work week length is 30 hours and maximum hours of work per week 40 hours. One public holiday shortens work week length by 6 hours and maximum hours of work per week by 8 hours.
Please note! Public holiday shortens work week max 8 hours in one day.
You can also define how work week shortening on public holidays behave and which determination of the length of the working week they shorten.
Definitions are recommended to do through validity control.
Shortening of work week and border of overtime
If work week is wanted to be shortened, but not the border of the overtime, then values should set as:
- TES work week length = Yes
- TES maximum hours of work per week = No
If also the border of overtime is wanted to be shortened, then values should be set as:
- TES work week length = Yes
- TES maximum hours of work per week = Yes
All these three settings can have exceptions, which are valid only on certain days.
The third setting, "Weekly overtime threshold if earned before TES max week length" does not matter, if it is not set in the TES settings (Work hours -> TES).
Effects of settings on the calculation
If day is defined as public holiday, the day will shorten the set work week length. Automatic public holiday compensation can be defined in the work rises. Please note that the service cannot interpret all situations in which, according to several Collective Agreements, the public holiday compensation should not be earned. If public holiday settings are changed, also the work rises' settings should be checked that they behave as wanted.

In Setting group level the setting is found from: Worktime -> Administration -> Setting groups -> Setting group: Wanted setting group -> Action: Setting group settings -> Work hours -> TES.
In Working community settings level the setting is found from: Worktime -> Administration -> Working community settings -> Work hours -> TES.
