When using Nepton payroll, payslips update automatically based on the data provided by employees, supervisors, and payroll specialists. This allows any potential errors and issues to be identified and corrected before payday.
Our payslips are easy to read, featuring clear terms and logical groupings.
Workflow: Events, absences, and approvals
When using Nepton Payroll, payslips update automatically based on worktime events. To get the most value from this automation, it is recommended that employees record their work hours and absences as soon as possible, ideally in real-time. Supervisors should regularly review and approve this information, ensuring that all events are recorded and approvals are completed before the end of the payment period cutt-off date.
For clarity, a payslip has different statuses depending on which stage of the payroll process it is on. These statuses are described below.
Different payslip statuses
Draft
The payslip is calculated dynamically based on the employee's HR data and relevant Worktime event and absence entries. Payslip recalculates immediately to changes in this data. If the payroll specialist has done manual additions or edits, those are also included.
Refinement
The cut-off date of the payment period has passed and the payroll specialist has begun reconciling the related payroll.
Edits to HR and event data will only show in "draft" payslips if the payroll specialist has accepted the changes and included them into the draft payroll calculations. This means that the payslip won't update immediately after the changes to Worktime.
Finalised
The payslip has been finalised by the payroll specialist and flagged for business approval and payment. It is unlikely that further changes will be made, but payroll specialists are informed of any edits made in the Worktime after the fact. They can choose whether to make further amendments, or to handle the changes in the next payslip.
Paid
The salary has been sent for payment according to the payslip. It can no longer be changed. Any corrections will be handled as part of a new payslip.

Troubleshooting
My payslip has a mistake
- If a payslip seems to be missing salary rows or the amounts doesn't match as expected, please first check that all events have been recorded correctly for the related period.
- If the events appear to be correctly recorded and the summary for the day in e.g. events in calendar/table view seems to be right, contact your supervisor to make sure that the HR information affecting the salary calculations has been correctly set.
- In case you can't solve the problem using our guidance, please contact your oeganizations Nepton admin and/or salary contact person to further investigate the issue.
I don't see my payslip
Payslips are automatically generated in real-time whenever there are edits to work events or relevant HR data for a person. However, this generation only occurs when all information necessary for payroll calculation is present. Below is a list of common causes for pauses in payslip generation:
- You have not yet marked work events in the coming payment period - Payslips are only shown when there are work events in their payment period. Future payslips are only generated up to two months in advance.
- Your payment group has not been set correctly - You can check this from the Employees > Own information page. A supervisor can usually change this for you if it is incorrect.
- Mandatory HR data is missing from Nepton - Your supervisor can check whether all the necessary personal information is saved in Nepton. The supervisor can check the HR data for payroll article for more information.
How should corrections be handled?
Any changes to worktime and absence data can be addressed immediately. Depending on the status of payroll processing, the effects will be taken into account in rea-time or in the next payroll. Read more about handling corrections here.
