27/12/2022 release (2.11.0) - Planning usability & Performance

 New

• 2023 Nepton Touch terminal hardware

An updated version of the Nepton touch terminals hardware is now available. A sleek design, modern OS, more processing power, and a more flexible onboard reader, make this our most secure and capable terminal to date.

This device supersedes previous Idesco and Nepton touch models. It will be used in all new orders and when replacements are needed.

  Terminal types & information

• Quick help

A new in-platform help tool that will get you started on new features, inform you about important changes, answer daily use questions, and get you the help you need quicker than ever.

This new feature will debut in the Planning section and gradually roll out elsewhere as we modernise our user interface. Find it in the bottom right corner on supported pages.

  How to get help

 Improvements

• Planning usability

The planning view has been modernised, including many quality-of-life improvements and new features to improve efficiency

  • New look and feel - Much of the planning section has been updated to modern styles. Easier to navigate, and more space for your work, we hope you love it as much as we do! Work will continue on this topic in future versions, for planning and also other sections.
  • Bulk actions - Get your planning done quicker and easier than ever. Edit, Copy, Move and Delete your way to victory, hundreds of shifts at a time. Is someone sick and you need to reassign all their shifts to someone else? It's now only a few clicks!
  • Right-click context menu - That's right, your mouse has two buttons (maybe even more)! Right-click to get the full information about a shift and quick actions on it, including delete. This lets you reduce the information you load into the view and free up space to see more of your plan.
  • Quick assign - A shortcut instead of the full-blown bulk actions menu, switch into assignment mode by hovering the mouse over a person's name and clicking the new button. Pick the shifts and needs you want to assign them and save.
  • Identify planning problems - Planning problems found in the selected date range are now highlighted at the top of the view. Click to expand and jump to each problem for quick solving.
  • Maximise - Found in the top right of the planning view, a new legend, and the option to toggle expanding the planning view to fill your whole screen.
  • Removed planning hours/day view - We have decided to remove this feature as it was very rarely used and did not align with our new usability guidelines.

Quick actions, Bulk actions, Right-click menu [ref 12409]

• Performance improvements

We have made many improvements to reduce wait times and load on the servers. The impact should be noticeable in many features around the platform.

  • A complete rewrite of project handling and storing
  • Query optimisations for high-traffic pages and features

• Configurable mobile quick start events

Save your employees time and improve accuracy, by configuring prefilled events they can start from mobile with one click of a button.

  • Primarily intended for frequent or complex work recordings, quick start events can now be configured for the working community and setting groups, and are a great time saver for common events.
  • We plan to expand on this feature making it available in more places in a future version.

  Guidance [ref 8819]

• Reorderable Worktime setting exceptions

Worktime setting exception rules are evaluated in the order they are listed, from top to bottom, acting on the first one that matches. This improvement allows you to easily change the order of these exceptions by dragging and dropping.

Configure exceptions to settings [ref 12734]

• Public web service endpoint simplified

A long overdue clean-up of our endpoint, which makes it easier to understand and utilise. Much of the supporting documentation has also been overhauled during this version. Work will continue on our API guidance during early 2023.

  [ref 13122]

• More intuitive person field value validity editing

We added a "01.01.1900" watermark on date input when it contains no value to signify value is in use from start of times

• New mobile artwork

We heard you love the artwork we added to the mobile view. So we added more of it! Check back each week to see a new image. There might even be some special images if you login on special dates :)

 Changes

• More straight forward usage of person identifier fields

11/10/2022 release (2.10.20)

 Fixes

• People with unpaid events could have the wrong amount of work hours calculated

Recent corrections to the Worktime settings unintentionally impacted many customers because the default behaviours of some event types changed. This could result in fewer hours being considered as work for people who have recorded unpaid events, leading to more borrowing from balance.

To correct this situation, by default, unpaid event types will now contribute to weekly work hours, but not towards overtime earning. If you still have people with unpaid events that have incorrect work hour calculations, please review your settings related to this matter, in Worktime > Administration > Working community & Setting group level settings, then:

  • Work hours > TES > Event types that contribute to work week.
  • Work hours > Accruals and overtime hours > Balance > Borrow at the end of the week if weekly obligation not fulfilled.

  [ref 13901]

• Worktime > Work time shortening leaves report, could crash in some situations

 Improvements

• The calculation of setting exceptions based on public holidays has been optimized.

  [ref 13025]

This is useful when configuring event types such as absences which should fulfill work obligations, but not count towards overtime earning.

This new setting is available at working community and setting group levels respectively under the Work hours > TES > Event types that contribute to work week, heading.

  [ref 11823]

 Fixes

• The Employees > Administration, pages were very slow to load for some customers.

23/10/2021 release (2.8.0) - Nepton Payroll

 New

• Nepton can now pay salaries as a service

With the launch of our new product Nepton Payroll, salary calculation and payment are handled as a service based on the data within Nepton. Customers can achieve fast, reliable, and transparent payroll, in real-time, based directly on their HR and Worktime data.

As part of this update, new salary and payslip controls become visible to all customers. If you do not yet use Nepton payroll, these will advertise the new capabilities of the service.

Sales begin on 28.10 with a product launch webinar at 09:00. Invitations and details about registration will be made public soon. Save the date!

• Payment groups

HR data has been extended with Payment groups. These are used to group people who should be paid something on the same schedule (e.g. a salary, wage, bonus, etc). A persons' membership to a group, indicates they should be compensated according to its payment periods. In a future version, this concept will be used to make approval recommendations to supervisors, more intelligent and proactive. Payment groups can be used to select and filter people for Worktime reports and integrations.

  Guidance [ref 11156]

• Export HR data whenever it is edited

HR data exports can now be configured to occur whenever there are edits to the data within Nepton, effectively allowing for real-time HR data integration.

  Guidance [ref 11771]

• Import & Export past and future HR data values for people, using JSON format

All past, present, and future values of HR data fields can now be imported and exported in the action by using the newly supported JSON format.

Using the JSON format, it is also possible to send HR data directly to a receiving REST webservice.

  • Monthly salary - A new ‘Monthly salary’ field has been added so more accurate salary information can be stored about an individual.
  • Classification of occupations (Ammattiluokka) - The Classification of occupations field has been added to support payment of salaries in Finland.
  • Nepton person identifier - This read-only field has been added to provide a more robust and permanent way of identifying Nepton personal data globally. This value is available in imports and exports of HR data, including salary exports via Worktime rulesets and is controlled by Nepton. Once a person has been added to Nepton, this identifier is generated and will never change.

Several data selections on the report have been clarified to make it easier to understand its capabilities.

  Guidance [ref 10041]

• Worktime rounding

When compensated time is rounded there is now a clear distinction between work hours that were registered and time which is paid.

This corrects issues in reports such as the Overtime and Hours by salary type report, which were earlier unable to show the correct amount of worked hours.

It also improves the accuracy of data gathered by rulesets for exports and integrations. They can now be extended to consider whether compensation exists because of rounding or not. A good example of where this might be useful is when creating a ruleset for invoices, which should be based on actually worked hours, vs a ruleset for salary integrations, which should include rounded times.

The change also addresses situations where work rises were being incorrectly earned due to rounding. A good example of this are evening and night compensations as these should be awarded for the actual time worked, not rounded time used for salary calculations. There is a new Work rise setting to enable this method of calculation, which can be found in the Work rise settings section.

  Guidance [ref 8841]
